As a winner of the gold award for the Governor's Award for Physical Fitness, the city wants to connect parks, schools, and the library and retail centers via planned sidewalk and pathway systems.

If retail is more to your liking, the main destination for Novi shoppers and many from the Detroit area is the Twelve Oaks Mall. Recently remodeled with over 180 stores, you can find all you need for yourself and your Novi apartment at anchor stores JC Penney, Lord and Taylor, Macy's, Nordstrom and Sears's. Getting back outside again you can find over 1000 acres of park land including Lakeshore Park on Walled Lake; ITC Community Sports Park designated specifically for outdoor sports like softball and soccer on 73 acres; and Rotary Park for the tennis enthusiast.

The Novi Ice Arena, while inside, is a great place to get in a real workout with either a hockey game or ice skating. There's always the potential to watch a hockey game too. Through the PRCS, you can find a huge number of resources for exercise programs and classes for all ages.

Children with parents who live in Novi apartments may go to one of four school districts. The quality of education is valued in this community, and the public library was reconstructed and opened in June 2010 to serve the population. The colleges and universities in the area include a branch of Walsh College, the Art Institute of Michigan and a campus of South University.
